Step It Up Program

Step It up 2022-23 applications ARE CLOSED FOR THE YEAR!THEY WILL RE-OPEN IN AUGUST 2023Top of Page
The mission of the Step It Up program is to support OSA’s diversity and outreach commitment by making arts education accessible to BIPOC youth from Title 1 OUSD schools. In 2020, we partnered with The People’s Conservatory, and are proud to continue that partnership into the 2022-23 school year.
Through afterschool arts education programming, recruitment efforts, and community partnerships, Step It Up is focused on connecting with and preparing underserved and marginalized students from Oakland and surrounding areas for successful entrance into OSA while providing opportunity for development of artistic interest and talents. Students who complete the Step It Up program are given additional preference in the OSA admission lottery process.
Physical applications are available in English, Spanish, and Mandarain at OSA's 18th Street entrance (530 18th St.) or by request. Please contact stepitup@oakarts.org.
