Mr. Abid has over 15 years of real estate acquisitions and asset management experience, and helps oversee and manage deal sourcing, asset management, and day to day operations for the firm’s Northern California office.
 
Prior to joining HP Investors, Mr. Abid helped acquire, structure, and manage over $2B in West Coast real estate assets for AIG Global Real Estate in San Francisco. In this role, Mr. Abid helped analyze, structure, and manage investments across the project lifecycle, including entitlement, ground-up development, asset repositioning, and lease-up. He has direct experience in the office, retail, for-sale residential, and multifamily sectors.
 
Mr. Abid has also served as private equity associate at The LeFrak Organization, a New York based developer, and as a corporate strategy consultant at Deloitte.
 
Mr. Abid holds an MBA and MS in Urban Planning from Columbia University, and a BA from UCLA.

Safia Fasah is a proud Oakland native and is honored to be the inaugural alumni board member on OSA's board.   She currently sits on the Board of Directors at College Track and is a graduate of Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University.  
 
Prior to law school, she received a B.A. in Psychology from Columbia College of Columbia University in the City of New York.  Safia thanks New York City for her keen ability to walk into and through any space with direct purpose and she credits Oakland for instilling in her the true power of diversity and stoking her revolutionary spirit.

Phil is an OSA parent, artist manager and producer who has worked at the intersection of entertainment, sports and social impact for the last 20+ years. He is currently advising educational media company Roadtrip Nation on its launch in Oakland, and developing an emerging artist program with 49er legend Ronnie Lott and a team of industry professionals.
 
Phil also manages 23 yr. old Oakland artist and OSA alum Satya. Previous clients have included 3-time Grammy winner Fantastic Negrito, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Gustavo Galindo, and Olympic Ceremonies producer Ric Birch. On the production side, Phil was co-founder and partner in Instantia Producciones, the company that produced Mexico's Bicentennial in 2010.

Brightstar is the CEO of Bright Research Group (BRG), a women and minority owned firm, based in Oakland, California. BRG provides research, design and capacity building services to non-profits, public agencies, and philanthropies looking to strengthen their impact.
 
Founded in 2010, BRG holds a specific organizational commitment to advancing social and racial equity for low income communities of color. Under her leadership, BRG has designed and implemented numerous  research, evaluation and capacity building initiatives in the Bay Area and beyond. Brightstar has provided executive and organizational coaching to dozens of non profit organizations providing youth and human services, violence prevention, and health care services. Brightstar designed the BRG fellowship model for BIPOC leaders to amplify their voices and influence within systems change efforts, while also advancing professionally within non-profit organizations.
 
Prior to founding BRG, Brightstar was the Director of  Community Research at Gibson & Associates for six years and a project director at UCSF for five years. Brightstar holds a master’s degree in education from the University of New Haven and a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Yale University. Brightstar is a certified coach through Leadership That Works.

Amy Omand has over 20 years of experience in financial management and is passionate about using her expertise to help nonprofit organizations thrive. She is an active Certified Public Accountant and obtained an undergraduate degree in accounting from Georgetown, and an MBA degree at UC Berkeley Haas School of Business.
 
She has held several roles in her career to assist organizations that were addressing a social need - she was Controller at Revolution Foods that bring healthy lunches to schools; she was Director of Finance at Tipping Point Community working to fight poverty in the Bay Area; and CFO of NewSchools Venture Fund who invests in reimagining education across the country.
 
She joined the OSA board in Summer of 2022 and has one current OSA student.

Board Member Sorrel Raino-Tsui
Sorell Raino-Tsui is a lifelong Oakland and East Bay resident who found early success in finance, and at 19 became the youngest licensed floor trader on the Pacific Stock Exchange. After 5 years in corporate finance Sorell abruptly left a promising career at the Exchange with the ambitions to strike out on his own and find a path more fulfilling.
 
In 2005, Sorell co-founded Peoples Choice Printing, the first minority owned and operated Silk Screen print shop in Oakland. Sorell exploded on to the gallery scene with Athen B. Gallery, promoting a strong mix of contemporary art, urban and street art.
 
Athen B. Gallery has become the premier space for urban artists to showcase their work.
