Science Department ObjectivesTop of Page
The mission of the Science Department at OSA is to train students to understand Science as a dynamic and captivating intellectual process, and to see themselves as Scientists. Science is living! Science is participatory! Through a study of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Health, students will see that all of Science is interconnected and all of Science is relevant to our lives. Most importantly, they will understand that Science is not merely a collection of facts but is a way of thinking. We encourage curiosity, critical thinking and creative approaches to problem solving. It makes us smile to know that some of our students will pursue careers in Science and Engineering, however we want all students to leave OSA with a strong foundation in Science. We believe it is of vital importance that this foundation be given to the next generation, since they will need to be well-equipped, well-informed and better able to make important decisions in our changing world.
