The OSA Figure Skating Emphasis aims to encourage the personal development of young, aspiring figure skaters with a curriculum focused on elite instruction and unique performing opportunities. As a part of the program, skaters will progress through teamwork, skating experiences, and developing positive relationships to assist in achieving their skating goals throughout the school year.

The candidate does not have to be a serious competitive skater to join the program. The important thing is that each candidate has a passion and interest for Figure Skating and dreams and goals to pursue in becoming an accomplished skater.

All skaters should be at the Intermediate/Advanced level, i.e. all single jumps and basic spins have been learned and connecting moves such as three turns, mohawks, etc.

Thirty minutes of off-ice instruction and one hour of ice time are provided each day – Monday through Friday. The skaters will work with a variety of coaches who are employed at the Oakland Ice Center

Each candidate is required to pass a short audition conducted at the rink. This requires the skater to perform basic skating elements for the Oakland Ice Center’s Skating Manager.
