OSA Community:
We at OSA are very proud of all our accomplishments now that we have completed almost one full year in our new home. The recent Visual Arts/Literary Arts/Music show, as well as the groundbreaking production of The Wiz, just solidifies our status as an uptown arts center and "destination" spot in our own right -- exactly what was written into the school vision. As I stated in one of my e-mail communications to the community -- Promise Delivered! It feels very, very good to say that.
And so, onward and upward into 2010. "Raise the Bar" will continue to drive our efforts through the end of the school year, and at some point in the spring we will unveil the inspirational 2010-2011 theme.
One particular thank you needs to go out -- and that is to the wonderful parent community who stepped up big time in helping The Wiz look like a professional operation. From box office sales to food, this was parent support at a level never seen before. We have set a standard for the future and established OSA as the model for a successful school -- a place where students and the community reach higher than had ever been thought possible.
Thank you again -- Donn K. Harris Executive Director Oakland School for the Arts

Special honors go to OSA Visual Art senior Graciela OlguĂn for putting her idea in motion and inspiring others to join her. Also special thanks go to our 11th and 12th grade class for documenting works and fulfilling orders quickly and professionally, and a big HOORAY to our entire Visual Art high school class for donating works to the show.
We have raised $330 so far! All of this will be donated to the American Red Cross for Haiti relief.
Thanks to everyone who shared our online sale and bought works in support. You are awesome!
