Where the money goes?
OSA Annual Fund

Donors may designate gifts to support the Annual Fund: the foundation of unrestricted, private

support upon which OSAʼs programs are built. The Fund ensures that the committed faculty and

staff who dedicate their lives to educating OSAʼs students have the necessary resources to provide

the highest caliber of service. It stocks classrooms and studios, upgrades and equips facilities, and

helps students and faculty attend conferences. The Fund also enables OSA to remain stable and

sustainable while addressing emergent community needs and unforeseen challenges.

Annual Fund gifts of $500 or more enlist donors in OSAʼs Giving Circles. Giving Circles benefits,

based upon giving level, are available upon request or at www.oakarts.org, at the “Giving Circles”

link.

OSA Student Support or Graduate Scholarships

Donors may designate gifts to support specific student populations based upon particular criteria,

such as: middle school or high school, arts emphasis or academic program. OSA graduate schol-

arships may also be established and supported based upon such criteria as financial need or ac-

ceptance at a specific college. Student support gifts do not denote a relationship to a particular

student, but assist students by funding one-time or ongoing general operating needs in the spe-

cific area selected by the donor. Graduate scholarships support individual students chosen by OSA

based upon the donorʼs scholarship criteria. Both types of gifts help OSA attract and retain increas-

ing numbers of excellent students in all academic and arts areas. Donors may also create endowed

scholarships, to support students in perpetuity.

OSA Faculty

Donors may designate gifts to support faculty salaries within any arts or academic department:

Visual Arts, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Dance, Theater, English, Mathematics, Science,

Social Science, and Romance Languages (French and Spanish). Faculty support gifts may also

be allocated to fund guest artists, visiting teachers, and tutors in specialized programs: Saturday

School, Peer Tutoring or OSAʼs Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) Preparatory Class. Faculty support is

pivotal in recruiting and retaining highly qualified teachers. It is essential to maintaining a desirable

faculty-to-student ratio, maximizing every studentʼs individual potential.

Arts Emphasis, Academic Department or Project

Donors may designate gifts to support an artistic emphasis, academic department, or project.

Gifts provide funding for a number of needs, including student and faculty travel expenses for

performances and field trips; student participation in academic, artistic and community service

internships; and professional development for faculty and staff in the donorʼs chosen area.

Capital Improvements

Donors may designate gifts to support the purchase of equipment, such as microscopes; or they

may designate a space in which their funds are to be invested, such as a dance studio. Capital

improvements enhance OSAʼs facilities by meeting various renovation and improvement needs for:

laboratories, theater spaces, studios, classrooms, administrative offices and more at the Fox The-

ater.

Capital Improvement gifts relieve OSA of the need to divert a large number of Annual Fund dona-

tions toward facilities – freeing these funds to support the students, faculty and staff in other

ways.
