Despite the fact that grades are not submitted by students auditioning to enroll, OSA is ranked among the top 5 performing public secondary schools in the City of Oakland. OSA’s Academic Performance Index (API) scores consistently outperform a majority of those in the Oakland Unified School District. OSA seeks to position itself as a model, so that other schools that serve comparable demographics may achieve similar performance gains.
Additionally, OSA's high school has officially become ConnectEd California's 16th Model Program demonstration site.
